Other than that, I don't know what to say.....I had fun making it, it was a pain getting it to flip right on camera :/

3rd Class

Oh lovely topic this week, "Perception of Vision"
It's everywhere...oddly enough, we use it everywhere. In animations and flip books, some neat children's toys. Mind tricks! The human eye is NOT a camera...it takes in an image like one, but it can't function as fast as a camera, we have to scan rate, we can't intake every frame overall the second, we'd have to be god or superhuman to do that. Heh, hummingbird eyes even. but basically it's not possible for a human being to comprehend every intake shot that the eye takes to read into the mind.

But while we're talking about the preseption of vision and such, might as well comment how it works with animation.
In class we're making these neat-o flipbooks, were we're kinda incorperating mult-media..so here's a music video of a nifty band I saw two new years ago...who'se much older than that...but mixes media and just really over displays well.

Aha -Take on me (It's the video waaaay at the bottom... I couldn't figure out how to fix my post after being saved as a draft and get it up here...)

so we also talked about what we'd do in our flip books. I had the idea for mine to do still shot glowsticking, where she's not actually glowsticking but holding the sticks so that when the flipbook comes to life it looks like she's in motion and that the sticks are moving and tracing the light.

Tummy tracing is one idea I had... only beccause it consist of two moves that can be manipulated easily and is possible to photograph.
That's also one thing I really like about this project, we get to do what we want. My friends and I LOVE to glowstick!!! we throw parties in each others basements and just blast that music/dj and swing the sticks about. Most of the time we're free handed, not many do strings. Except for my one friend who breakdances while he glowsticks... that's really cool and I'm sad we never recorded it :(
But here's better examples of glowsticking, it's not just for party people, but is everyday fun and good exersize!

2nd class

So I was looking on youtube for a music video when I suddenly remembered about this video I saw long ago where a guy, Noah, takes a picture of himself everyday. I thought i was really touching and beautiful. So if you haven't already seen it, I want to share it with you.

I seriously don't think I could remember to take a picture everyday or me, let alone want to >.> Kudos to Noah though, kudos.

More on the humorous side is Lasse Gjertsen, which I've really liked all his stuff that I've seen so far and think he's a pretty nifty guy, so here's a fun video from him. Please check him out too on youtube.

Beyond that the class discussed about zoetropes, where I made a lilac mouse roll over. I was happy with it, and surprisingly I had fun with the project. When it was first introduced to me I was completely lost and was supposing everything I was doing was wrong...it was, but it worked out better for me. Click me
They're nifty little toys aren't they? And very fun to make!

I also recently came across an internet game Warpfire where you play as part of the military in the future and blow up pirating ships and collect iron, talk and interact with other people... blow up their ships..all in fun though. I think it's really cool because it can be used with any kind of basic browser and the graphics are just major sharp.

But I also got way off track, this was the video I was looking for on youtube that started my little video spree. It's a fan made video I believe to the Orbital song Halcyon. It's one of my, and probably top, favorite songs EVER. I first heard it in the movie 'Hackers'. not many people know about the film, it's from the early 90s, and was one of Angelina Jolie's earlier films. I loved how the film starts out over a city scape and enters this song in to just capture the impact of the clip, I'm just upset I can't find the opening for you but this video is ever better, least I love the science fiction intake on things and the outerspace, bright lights just gets me.

And what do you know, with my blonde, dumb luck I stumbled across it on the 'related links'

So there you go, a lot of nifty videos just for you ^.^

1st Class

The class was exciting today, we got together and just did a little introduction to get things started, fortunate for me, like most times, I had to be the first to go off about my name, major , and yada-yada. So I didn't have a clear mind of what I was going to say. We began to discuss films that had the use of time motion and things that would help us in the class or what we would be doing. A couple people sparked my memory and I remembered an Aphex Twin video by Chris Cunnigham, "Rubber Johnny". I was introduced to the video Years ago, my friend even said when it first came out it scared people all over, it was just out f this world and I want to share it with you.

This short film was released in 2005, and Chris actually stars as Johnny Rubber.. not sure if he actually looks like that in real life..I believe the scared dog in the film is actually Chris's . The music is also by Aphex Twin.
( * little warning, the video's audio might be off *)

Aside from the class, my friend sent me this link to some really interesting jewelry that fascinated me and I'm sure it will fascinate others.

Later in the day, made me even happier, i attended a lecture given by Will Vinton
He does those Raisen commercials and the PJs and the Nisane commercials in claymation. Ah but that's all I have to say about now..I suppose..
